Pivot point calculator
Enter the previous day’s high, low and close to calculate pivot levels. These are formula values; they do not mean price will stop or turn there.
New to this?
You getThe pivot point (P) and the levels above (R1–R3) and below (S1–S3); Camarilla also gives R4 and S4
What to enter, and the terms used
You enterPair, formula, and the previous day’s high, low and close
A pip is the unit for price moves. For most pairs it is 0.0001; for JPY pairs such as USD/JPY it is 0.01.
New to these words?
Example: enter this, get this
- Pair: EUR/USD, formula: Classic
- Previous high: 1.0880, previous low: 1.0820
- Previous close: 1.0860
P = (1.0880 + 1.0820 + 1.0860) ÷ 3 = about 1.08533. R1 = 2P − 1.0820 = about 1.08867, and S1 = 2P − 1.0880 = about 1.08267. The previous day’s range is 0.0060 (60 pips). These are formula values; they do not mean price will stop or turn there.
The example numbers only show how the calculation works. They are not recommendations. Replace them with your own account’s numbers, or use “Clear inputs”.Where do I find these numbers?
- Previous high, low and close
- Look at yesterday’s candle on the daily (D1) chart. Open View → Data Window to see the open, high, low and close of the candle under your mouse
- When the day starts
- In MT4/MT5, the daily candle starts at 00:00 server time. The server time converter turns that into your local time
The mobile app and platforms other than MT4/MT5 may use different names or places (for example, “Units” or “Lot size” for contract size). If you cannot find a number, check your broker’s help pages.
How it works
- Classic:
P = (high + low + close) ÷ 3
R1 = 2P − low
S1 = 2P − high
R2 = P + range
S2 = P − range
R3 = high + 2 × (P − low)
S3 = low − 2 × (high − P) - Woodie:
P = (high + low + 2 × close) ÷ 4
R and S (including R3 and S3) use the classic formulas. - Camarilla:
R1/S1 = close ± range × 1.1 ÷ 12
R2/S2 = close ± range × 1.1 ÷ 6
R3/S3 = close ± range × 1.1 ÷ 4
R4/S4 = close ± range × 1.1 ÷ 2 - Fibonacci:
R1/S1 = P ± range × 0.382
R2/S2 = P ± range × 0.618
R3/S3 = P ± range × 1.000 - Range = previous high − previous low
FAQ
Does this tool make trading decisions?
No. It only calculates the levels from a formula. It does not decide where to buy or sell.
Why is it a little different from my chart?
The previous high, low and close depend on when your broker starts the day (server time). Use the daily candle from your own broker.
