About me
I have been trading forex for about seven years, with some breaks in between. Trading on my own discretion, I lost a large part of my account several times. After that, I started buying automated trading programs (Expert Advisors, or EAs) and writing my own.
I did, of course, want to make a profit from trading. But the more programs I wrote, the more I enjoyed the building itself. So I set out to make a record-keeping app that was easy for me to understand, and that is how Tiltnote began. These days, rather than trading myself, I focus on building tools for people who are trying forex or sticking with it.
A site where you can check what is true
Forex and finance are full of misleading and false information, and there are not many places where you can tell what to trust. As a trader, every time I looked something up, I kept wondering which version was true.
That is why I want Tiltnote to be a place where you can check the facts. Articles show their sources wherever possible. Even so, I cannot promise they are free of mistakes or inaccuracies. If you point one out, I will look into it as soon as I can. If something is wrong, I will fix it and note in the article what was changed, when and why, so readers can see it.
Something I would show my children
I have a family. Everything here, the app, the tools and this site, should be something I would not be embarrassed to show my own children. That is what I care about most.
What Tiltnote is for
After a run of losses, it is easy to want to win the money back, or to break rules you set for yourself. Tiltnote started as an effort to record these emotion-driven trades, look back at them, and improve a little at a time.
The idea also grew out of my own experience. While running self-built trading robots, I kept changing the settings after losses, driven by emotion, even though the system was supposed to be in charge, and my account slowly shrank. Recording every trade made it clear that emotion was the biggest cause of the losses.
The Tiltnote trading journal app is how we put that idea into practice. We released the app in August 2026, and in October we launched this site, which explains the terms and calculations that beginners often find confusing.
How we make articles
- Articles are drafted with the help of AI, and the facts, numbers and sources are checked in several stages before they are published. Numbers and rules are checked against the original sources.
- We use original sources, such as documents from regulators and industry bodies in different countries, research papers, and the official documentation for trading software. Articles that cover facts and figures list their sources at the end.
- Tiltnote's representative is responsible for what our articles say. When a factual error is found, it is checked again, corrected, and recorded in the Corrections section at the end of the article. Every past correction is listed on the corrections page.
Fairness
- This site is written for readers in many countries and regions (currently in English and Japanese only). We try not to look down on, make assumptions about, or leave out anyone because of their country, region, language, gender, age, religion, disability, experience or anything else.
- Apart from our own app, Tiltnote, we do not recommend or promote any broker, service or product, and we do not receive referral fees (affiliate commissions) from brokers or anyone else. When an article names a broker or firm, it is only as an example of a rule or as a source.
- This site shows no ads.
- We do not tell you what to trade, and nothing here is investment advice.
What comes next
We will keep adding articles and calculators, and keep improving the app based on what users tell us.
